Green Building Advisor: Cambridge, MA goes all in on RECs

Julie Wormser, Chief Sustainability Officer of Cambridge, Massachusetts, sees her role not merely as decarbonizing the city but as charting a replicable path that other municipalities can follow to cost-effective, equitable, impactful decarbonization.

In this article, she speaks with Justin Wolf, reporter at Green Building Advisor, on Cambridge's sustainability strategy. Prominently positioned within that strategy is a Virtual Power Purchase Agreement through SR Inc's Net Zero Consortium for Buyers. Contracted with the Prairie Solar development in the Illinois portion of the MISO grid, the deal will cause new renewable energy capacity that reduces the grid's emissions by displacing coal.
