SBER Executive Symposium Insights: Q3 2024, New York
On September 26, SR Inc’s Sustainable Business and Enterprise Roundtable (SBER) presented the quarter’s installment of their annual research charter at the SBER Q3 Executive Symposium. Part of Climate Week NYC 2024, the Symposium convened Member-Clients to provide case-based, actionable insight on how Directors of Sustainability can navigate their organization’s path to net zero.
Held at the Library Hotel in Manhattan, the Symposium combined executive presentations and invaluable peer-to-peer discussions. It covered a range of topics, including:
- Protecting the Credibility of the Global EAC Market: Presented by Jim Boyle, SR Inc’s Founder and CEO, this keynote highlighted why and how sustainability leaders must act to differentiate purchaser-caused energy attribute certificates (EACs) from their less impactful peers.
- Scope 1 Decarbonization Strategy: Presented by Julia Rothfield, SR Inc’s Manager of Research & Advisory Services, this Member Briefing guides Directors of Sustainability through building an on-site emissions reduction strategy through energy efficiency, electrification, and local generation.
- Gaining Internal Buy-In for Decarbonization Initiatives: Presented by Alison Millman, SR Inc’s Senior Analyst of Research & Advisory, this Member Advisory outlines a five-step process for Directors of Sustainability to navigate securing executive support for their emissions reduction plans.
Central to SR Inc’s quarterly SBER Executive Symposia are our Member-Client guest speakers, who contextualize our member-informed research with lessons from their own direct experience on the subject matter. This quarter, SBER welcomed:
- Nell Triplett, Director of Sustainability at Juniper Networks, to speak on Gaining Buy-in for Decarbonization Initiatives based on her experience designing and executing a roadmap for near-term Science-Based Targets (SBTs).
- James Goudreau, Head of Global Environmental Sustainability Operations at Takeda Pharmaceuticals, whose fireside chat with David Osborn, SR Inc’s CFO and Senior Advisor, discussed lessons from his Scope 1 emissions reduction experience at Takeda and in the U.S. Navy Supply Corps.
Many thanks to these Member-Client executives for leading the conversation on shaping impactful sustainability initiatives.
SBER Executive Symposia are critical to helping our Member-Clients to set goals, drive progress, and report results for their sustainability programs. The case-based research SBER delivers at these Symposia provides the support that sustainability leaders need to scale and execute their goals. In contrast to conferences, where attendees must navigate mobs of vendors and talking heads, these member-only Symposia provide the focused environment needed to engage concretely on select issues. The Q3 full house demonstrated the high demand for pre-competitive peer discussions, a rare opportunity for time-pressed leaders to connect on shared challenges. SR Inc is proud to deliver its shared-cost, member-informed guidance to help executives drive meaningful sustainability progress.
We’re already looking ahead to future engagements, including our Summit for Sustainable Business VIII: Decarbonizing Corporate Global Operations in Washington, D.C., on December 5 & 6 at the St. Regis Hotel. Contact info@sustainround.com if you’d like to learn more!
