HP has been an environmental leader in the office printing products indusry and continues that leadership. Wal-Mart, which has responded to consumer and investor pressure to be more socially and environmentally sustainable, recently called on electronics suppliers to reduce the amount of packaging which products use. HP is now shipping a new notebook computer to Wal-Mart that uses much less packaging and uses recycled packaging. HP is an example of how companies are innovating in the arena of sustainability to reduce costs and are doing so via an integrated strategy that leverages everything from their supply chain to their office space.
