Federal R & D Agenda for Net Zero Energy, High-Performance Green Buildings

In October of 2008 the National Science and Technology Council published a Report of the Subcommittee on Buildings Technology and R & D that provides an aggressive agenda to rapidly improve the efficiency and performance of new and existing buildings.  Instituting these practices suggested among company office portfolios could dramatically change the way they are operated and the amount of energy they use.  Since buildings consume 40% of the total US energy consumption these practices could go a long way to decrease green house gases and reduce our dependence of foreign energy sources and provide a way to systematically transform the way existing buildings are operated.
