Late Tuesday, the House passed bill H.R. 6899, the “Comprehensive American Energy Security and Consumer Protection Act”, by a 236-to-189 vote. As you have heard, it provides extensions to tax breaks that were scheduled to expire at the end of this year.
Most of the bill did not deal with buildings. One section dealing with alternative fuels states that “each retail automotive fueling station owned by a major integrated oil company shall have at least 1 alternative fuel pump”. The writers of the bill also included, “…and necessary infrastructure and storage facilities” required to dispense the fuel for automotive purposes. Acceptable alternative fuels are: natural gas, >85% ethanol, biodiesel and hydrogen.
