SR Inc Announces Brandywine Realty Trust as SBER Outstanding Landlord of 2012
SR Inc was pleased to recognize Brandywine Realty Trust’s growing leadership in more sustainable real estate as the SBER Outstanding Landlord of 2012 at the Summit on Sustainable Business IV in Washington, D.C.
Brandywine continues to set a standard for excellence in their efforts to provide more energy efficient and healthy office environments portfolio-wide. Brandywine established aggressive 2012 sustainability objectives in Energy Management, Building Operations, Construction/Development, Incentive/ Regulatory, Office Environment, and Communications. Some achievements include obtaining ENERGY STAR ratings in 83 Buildings representing over 14.5 million sq.ft. within the portfolio, purchasing for no cost add, sustainable cleaning and paper products for over 82% of the portfolio and diverting over 83% of waste from its properties away from landfills. Whenever practical, Brandywine continues to measure and monitor energy consumption and focuses on retro-fits in the lighting, controls, metering and HVAC arenas where such capital investments demonstrate a reasonable return on investment and result in reduced consumption for their buildings and tenants.
Brandywine Realty Trust is also engaging tenants through its Sustainable Tenant Improvement Program as it seeks to educate its 1,400 tenants on the importance of instituting sustainability practices.
