SR Inc welcomes Pacific Gas and Electric Company to the Sustainable Business & Enterprise Roundtable

Pacific Gas and Electric Company,  incorporated in California in 1905, is one of the largest combination natural gas and electric utilities in the United States.  Based in San Francisco, the company has approximately 20,000 employees who carry out PG&E’s primary business—the transmission and delivery of energy. The company provides natural gas and electric service to approximately 15 million people throughout a 70,000-square-mile service area in northern and central California. PG&E’s focus on sustainability is a recognition that its success today depends as much on fulfilling a complex array of social, environmental and other stakeholder expectations as it does on traditional business performance measures.  Balancing these considerations in ways that create value across the “triple bottom line”—people, planet, profit—is the essence of sustainability as PG&E defines it.  At the highest level, the elements of its sustainability commitment continue to be reflected in its formal values statement and the four overarching goals they aim for in developing its business strategies and measuring its success: delighting customers, energizing employees, rewarding shareholders and demonstrating environmental leadership.
