The Summit on Sustainable Real Estate III “The Change Driving Sustainability” was held on November 30th and December 1st, 2011at the St. Regis Hotel in Washington D.C. This is the third annual Summit which is held by Sustainability Roundtable Inc (SR Inc.) through its flagship roundtable, the Sustainable Real Estate Roundtable (SRER). Over 100 corporate/commercial real estate executives and sustainability professionals representing over 60 member-client organizations attended the Summit.
This invitation-only two-day event featured a Summit Dinner where Awards for Sustainable Excellence were presented and full day of value creation sessions which included presentations, management best practices and case studies based on SR Inc’s original research. In addition, there was a lunchtime program lead by government leaders who presented sustainability resources available from the federal government and a facilitated session with member-clients to develop SRER’s 2012 Research Program.
Management Best Practice Sessions included:
- Portfolio-wide Sustainability Strategies: What strategies are real estate executives using to create sustainable value?
- Benchmarking Sustainability: What KPI’s for sustainability should real estate executives adopt and what are the relevant performance benchmarks?
- Sustainable Leasing Strategy: How can Tenants and Landlords best share the costs and benefits of more sustainable leased space in a smart LOI?
- Alternative Workplace Strategies: What AWS strategies are being successfully adopted to increase productivity and how can landlord’s best respond?
The collaboration of SR Inc.’s member-clients supported by SR Inc.’s analysts, researchers, consultants and advisors is rapidly driving the real estate industry toward greater sustainability with breakthrough management best practices about ‘what works’ to apply the principles of sustainable real estate strategies across a portfolio that reduce operating expenses/occupancy costs; enhance enterprise/asset value; and align with organizations’ commitment to the environment.
